WHY WAX?

Waxing is an efficient way to temporarily remove unwanted hair. Waxing is effective for hair removal because it removes hair from the roots, rather than just the skin’s surface. Over time, hair in waxed areas can lessen and/or become more sparse.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO PREPARE FOR MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?

It’s best to be hydrated and exfoliated several days before your first appointment. If your skin is dehydrated, it tends to hold onto the hair which can result in breakage rather than complete removal from the root. It has been our experience that taking an over the counter analgesic 45 minutes before your appointment will alleviate some pain. Refraining from alcohol and caffeine is always a good idea as well.

HOW LONG DOES MY HAIR NEED TO BE?

The hair desired to be waxed needs to be 1/4 inch long. If it is too short, the hair will be difficult to remove resulting in an unfinished service. If you typically shave please allow 1-2 weeks before booking a service.

HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?

Although results vary amongst different clients, the average results last between 3-6 weeks. Hair growth runs on three different cycles, (each approximately 10 days long), so clients are recommended to maintain waxing every 4 weeks. Please be aware that waxed areas may not be fully smooth after the very first appointment. Due to the different hair growth cycles, the hair may grow back patchy. The more consistent appointments are, the better the results. Consistent waxing will allow the hair to grow back finer, thinner, and more sparse over time.

WHAT TYPE OF WAX IS USED?

Aura uses Berodin wax, hard and soft – varies based on body part, skin type, hair type.

DO YOU TREAT MEN?

Yes, all with the exception of men’s bikini.

WHO SHOULD NOT BE WAXED?

Clients who are on medication that increases the skin’s photosensitivity may not be good candidates for waxing. Clients who are using Retin-A or retinol products on their skin should discontinue the use of these products 3-5 days before their appointment. Clients taking the oral prescription Accutane should wait 12 months before waxing.
